The families of teenagers unaccounted for after a tragic blaze at a venue in a Swiss ski resort are confronting an painful period of uncertainty for answers and requesting clues about their children online.

The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Confirmed images reveal the ceiling igniting as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of 40 people and wounded another scores more. Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has posted an urgent request online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
